The Employment, Skills and Learning Team at Bristol City Council offer a variety of programmes, including the below:

Centre for Sustainable Energy
The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a UK charity tackling climate change and fuel poverty by promoting green skills, sustainable jobs, and energy justice. Through youth programs, community projects, and direct household support, they help people improve energy efficiency while partnering with local authorities and campaigning for fairer national policies to achieve a just, low-carbon future.
Fareshare and Farechance Southwest
FareChance - is an inspiring, supportive, and accessible programme that offers 18 to 25-year-olds a chance to gain meaningful work experience, learn practical warehouse skills and build self-esteem to embrace their full potential – in work, education, and in daily life. The programme, co-designed by young people, is delivered from our warehouse in Bedminster, South Bristol. It’s a busy, fully functioning operation which is friendly, warm, and welcoming and the perfect environment for FareChance participants to develop, learn and grow.
Fareshare Southwest - is a food distribution charity with a social and environmental purpose, taking good quality in-date food destined for landfill and delivering to over 400 organisations across the southwest including schools, charities, and food banks. We run our operation from three distribution warehouses based in Bristol city centre, Bedminster, and Plymouth.
ALIBSA (Ageing Lifestyle in Blacks and Asians)
ALIBSA (Ageing Lifestyle in Blacks and Asians) is a project that helps Black and South Asian communities stay healthy as they get older. It shares easy-to-understand health information, supports people in making better lifestyle choices, and encourages them to take part in health research. By working with local communities and health experts, ALIBSA helps raise awareness, reduce health problems, and make sure everyone has a fair chance to age well.
City of Bristol College
City of Bristol College hosts a variety of courses for students aged 16-18, as well as courses for adult learners. Course types include A Levels, T Levels, Vocational Courses and Apprenticeships, delivered by experienced teaching staff. Across Bristol, you’ll find our state-of-the-art campuses, encompassing a range of facilities, from our Advanced Engineering Centre in Parkway to our South Bristol Skills Academy in Hengrove. City of Bristol College promotes independence whilst also providing our students with wide-ranging support, including SEND provisions and a student-led mental health platform.
School of Health and Social Wellbeing at UWE Bristol
The School of Health and Social Wellbeing at UWE Bristol is dedicated to transforming health and social care through inclusive education and research. They offer a variety of courses, including Nursing, Midwifery, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Sport Rehabilitation, Social Work, Environmental and Public Health, and Music Therapy. These programmes are designed to prepare students to make a meaningful impact in diverse communities.
UWE Bristol Degree Apprenticeships
UWE Bristol is dedicated to making higher education more accessible through its degree apprenticeships. These programmes allow individuals to earn a salary while studying for a degree, with tuition costs covered by employers and government contributions, thus eliminating financial barriers. By combining practical work experience with academic learning, participants gain valuable skills and qualifications without the burden of student debt.
Bristol Waste and the Digital Inclusion Scheme
You will have an opportunity to talk to Bristol Waste about career opportunities and their services in the area. You can also find out more about the Digital Inclusion Scheme, run in partnership between Bristol Waste and Bristol City Council: the scheme provides free computers, laptops and mobile phones to schools, charities, and marginalised communities. The Digital Inclusion Scheme has so far donated over 3,500 devices over the past 3 years. This includes laptops, mobile phones, tablets and desktops all improving digital access for thousands of Bristol residents.
Wheels to Work
Wheels to Work helps people in Bristol and North Somerset get to work, training, or education by removing travel barriers. The scheme offers free bus tickets, low-cost or loan bikes (including electric), cycle training, route planning, and basic bike maintenance workshops. It’s designed for those who are unemployed or earning below the living wage, and can also support travel to job interviews, placements, or the first month of a new job.
Wheels to Work West works with trusted local organisations to reach people who need a hand getting started—and staying—in work or training.
FixMyTek
Dedicated to supporting the repair culture, FixMyTek offers eco-friendly services that extend the lifespan of phones, laptops and tablets through repairs, recycling, and refurbishment.
The team will be providing free device health check-ups and basic repairs on the day.

Bridging Histories run events and activities, campaigns, educational programming, and community engagement consultancy. They are a creative changemaking incubator for everyday people of all ages and backgrounds, from all around the world.
UWE Bristol
UWE Bristol supports people into careers through a range of initiatives, including degree apprenticeships, career coaching, employability workshops, and strong industry partnerships. Through collaborations with local businesses, colleges, and community organisations, UWE Bristol helps individuals gain the skills, experience, and connections needed for successful employment.
